I think this is just an example of how common the misconception is around the impact of quantum computing versus different types of cryptographic primitives.
FWIW I think what Elon and other refer to when they say “SHA-256” is cryptography, generally.
But the problem is that it muddies the water significantly around the actual problem.

This is also the case across a lot of the security industry right now. There is a lot of FUD, confusion, hype, and marketing that even for security and cryptography professionals this is a fairly common misconception.
